Yoga Descriptions:  How are they different?

Ashtanga Yoga: In Ashtanga yoga, we perform traditional sun salutations, standing poses, seated postures and inversions.  Besides the salutations, each pose is held for 10 breaths, with a vinyasa (Jump back to low plank-Upward Facing Dog-Downward Facing Dog-to seated position) between each seated pose.  This is to create heat (thus increase flexibility) tone the body, and helps the internal organs function more efficiently.  Practicing Ashtanga regularly brings incredible body stretch, a sculpted physique, and flexibility.  It quickly progresses you into advanced postures and sky-rockets your athletic endurance level.  Remember this is introductory Ashtanga; challenging but not the entire series; poses are broken down, modifications are given, and we have a ton of fun while doing it!  No one is an all-star when beginning Ashtanga (it really is the sport of yoga), it is the training that makes one excel.

Recovery Yoga: Recovery yoga is beneficial whether you are new to yoga, prone to sore muscles, or want to learn ways to relax and gain flexibility. We will focus on the importance of proper breathing, break down standing and seated poses to relieve tight muscles, and end each class in deep relaxation. This is an excellent compliment to Crossfit training. Muscles will feel restored, posture realigned, and the mind relaxed with improved overall concentration. Regular participants will experience less bodily aches and pains while learning multiple stretches to practice at home. All levels of experience can enjoy the benefits of Recovery Yoga as well as the mini massages throughout each class!

Creative Flow: Find balance between effort and relaxation in a class that combines the strength of held postures and the serenity of breath-directed movement. Classes are based around the the fluid movements of the sun salutation and other breath-directed movements.

Hatha: Develop balance, strength, flexibility, and breath control in held postures with this alignment-based class.

Morning Stretch: Embody grace in movement while awakening to a new day of possibilities. This class will offer an energizing sequence that will connect breath to movement and anchor us into the present moment.
